Dekael engineered flooring is manufactured in a small industrial town called Semarang located in Central Java, Indonesia.

Dekael engineered floor strictly uses sustainably harvested wood sourced from the Indonesian government enterprise called Perhutani, which owns and manages well over 5 million hectares of teak plantation throughout the island of Java, as well FSC certified forests from around the world.



Is Dekael engineered flooring environmentally friendly?

Dekael engineered flooring is available in TFT (Tropical Forest Trust) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified. The FSC designation means that certified products have been harvested in a FSC-certified forest, are manufactured with 100 percent FSC-certified material and are distributed and sold through an FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) certified distribution channel.

What is the FSC?

The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent, non profit organization of individuals who promote the responsible management of forest around the globe. They were established in 1993 to address exploitation and mismanagement of forest, and to emphasize their social and ecological value. Certification ensures that companies that work in forested areas share and maintain FSC’s core values.



How is Dekael engineered flooring made?

Dekael engineered flooring are built having 3 multiple ply layers (Lamella, Core & Back) that are cross layered, glued and pressed together. The inner core layers are generally built up with either a hardwood and/or soft plywood type of material, which incorporates the tongue and groove system. The 3mm, 4mm, and 6mm top veneer wear layer called Lamella is then glued using B4 exterior use adhesive and pressed on the top surface of the core.

Our engineered type wood flooring construction is more stable and is a great choice to use in summer homes where the indoor temperature changes significantly when no one is there. Because manufacturing engineered flooring does not waste valuable prized wood below it’s wear layer, purchasing engineered flooring also helps conserve our plantation forest.



Can I use Dekael engineered flooring in my basement?

Yes, as long as the moisture content of the concrete does not exceed 4%. Basement are known to have higher relative humidity due to being under the ground with the use of a 4-6mm plastic vapor barrier in any areas where there is a slightly higher conditions.



Can I install Dekael engineered flooring over other floor coverings such as vinyl or tile?

Yes, as long as the other flooring is a hard surface secured well and is flat. However, it cannot be installed over carpet.



Can I glue down an Dekael engineered flooring over my concrete slab that is on grade?

Yes, you should make certain that your slab is dry and the moisture content does not exceed 4%. Again, depending on your particular situation we may recommend using a floating engineered floor.



How is Dekael engineered flooring compared to other engineered flooring brands?

It is important to remember that all manufactures recommend adding extra flooring to your actual square footage. This added flooring is recommended to cover boards for cutting and fitting during the installation process. It provides flexibility for those boards that you may not want to use, that may have gotten by the inspection process at the factory. If you want to run the flooring at a 45 degree angle in the room then you would want to add approximately 15% for a waste factor for the added cutting waste.



Are there different styles of Dekael engineered flooring?
